This was personally acquired by me from the grand-daughter of the artist who sculpted it. I could fill a book with history on this piece. However, the greatest details from the story include the fact that this is the original plaster that was formed from the artist’s clay. It’s the plaster he used to cast only 3 examples of the piece in bronze. One example went to the Italian Embassy in Washington DC, another was retained by the family, and a 3rd was given directly to Mussolini. Mussolini personally posed for this bust, and there are binders of documentation and photos. An amazing piece of art history, Italian history.
